Service Description: Children that have serious problems with feelings, behaviour and relationships can benefit from the program * treatment is offered away from home where the child will be safe and will receive help to build up strength to learn to deal with problems

In the program, the child
  • receives treatment at one of the residences or homes
  • learns and understands others better
  • help provided to child and family to learn new way to resolve problems
  • help to get ready for the child's return to the community
Each residence has a staff of experienced mental health workers with training in a variety of disciplines or professions

There are 3 homes in Peel Region and each child stays in a home appropriate to the age, a home for 7 to 11 years, 12 to 14 years and 14 to 17 years

Eligibility / Target Population: Children between the ages of 7 and 17 years old, live in Region of Peel and Dufferin County * may not be able to stay at home * has problems controlling moods and feelings * has serious problems dealing with other people at home and in the community * family is very stressed and is having problems dealing with the child
