Service Description: Community Mental Health Counselors (CMHC) in the General Mental Health stream work with individuals who are:
  • 16 years of age or older
  • have been diagnosed with a serious and persistent mental illness
  • require assistance in order to live in the community
  • willing and ready to work collaboratively with CMHC
Counselors in the General Mental Health stream have the knowledge and familiarity with community resources and provide:
  • strength based recovery model
  • supportive counseling and health training
  • work in partnership with other community agencies in providing services

Eligibility / Target Population: People 16 years and older diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness, require case management support for living, willing and ready to work collaboratively with a counsellor
