Service Description: Orangeville offers:


Empower Abilities Life Skills Program

Focuses on developing and enhancing the life skills of individuals with disabilities. This program is designed to equip participants with the tools they need to achieve greater independence and success in their personal and professional lives and is structured to provide a comprehensive range of life skills training, including communication skills, problem-solving, time management, and financial literacy. The program is ideal for individuals with passport funding. Program Duration is 4 weeks and Session Duration is 2 hours per week

Course Offering:

  • Independent Living Skills - teaches individuals with disabilities the skills necessary to live independently such as: Personal Hygiene, Budgeting and money management, Physical activity and nutrition, Sleep Hygiene
  • Social Skills - teaches individuals with disabilities social skills and how to interact with others such as: Communication skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, Assertiveness and self-advocacy, Empathy and understanding the feelings of others, Building and maintaining healthy relationships
  • Health and Wellness - teaches individuals with disabilities the skills necessary to maintain their physical and emotional health such as: Exercise and physical fitness, Nutrition and healthy eating, Stress management and relaxation techniques, Sleep hygiene
  • Technology Skills - teaches individuals with disabilities how to use technology to improve their daily lives such as: Basic computer skills, Assistive technology, Internet safety and security, Navigating public transit


Employability Health Support Services (EHSS) - provides education, training and job placement opportunities to the untapped labour pool of persons with disabilities who are willing and available to work. Enroll participants with placement into in-demand positions to meet the need for skilled workers in this sector. The program assists participants to secure Work Experience Placements to start or resume on-the-job training in the health sector

This program offers: Occupational Therapy Assessments to assess skills and abilities to reduce employment barriers, Career decision making , Tuition Free Education/Training Opportunities, Disability related supports, Job matching with employers, Job Coaching, Job Retention

Fees: Free * Work Rediness Program provides funding for up to 12 weeks of training to improve skills for employment.

Eligibility / Target Population: Empower Abilities Life Skills Program: For persons with disabilities - Ages 16 and older

Employability Health Support Services (EHSS): 15 years of age and older Unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week Not in full-time education or training Legally able to work in Canada (Permanent Resident, Refugee Claimant, Protected Refugee, and Canadian Citizen), Must be a resident of Ontario
