Service Description: Community Services provides consultation and support to individuals, families, schools and other agencies regarding issues surrounding Autism Spectrum Disorder

Consultation appointments provide an opportunity for a family and/or an individual with ASD to meet with an Autism Consultant to discuss challenges and concerns specific to their situation as needed. These areas can include, but are not limited to:
  • Autism education
  • communication strategies
  • strategies for daily living skills
  • emotional regulation and behavioural strategies
  • information on Kerry's Place services
Support and Services in Peel include:
  • Service Coordination-helps families with children and youth (up to their 18th birthday) who have a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder with the planning and coordination of supports
  • Resource Centres and Libraries-resource include: books, DVD, magazines, computer & internet access for researching information relating to ASD and the Beoardmaker software
  • Adult Support-offers a variety of social opportunities for adults with ASD. Opportunities may include ongoing social groups or one time day trips. A small cost is associated with these activities and participants will need to be pre-screened prior to attending groups to determine best fit.
  • Workshops-may include but are not limited to: Introduction to Autism, Communication Strategies, Navigating the Special Education System, and Make and Take Visuals. Workshops can be held at our resource centres, or other convenient locations within the community.
  • Sibling Groups- provide an opportunity for children who have siblings with ASD and/or a Developmental Disability to meet, learn and share experiences together in a safe and structured environment.
  • Social Skills Groups-offered to children and youth diagnosed with ASD. The purpose of Social Skills Groups is to foster learning and provide an opportunity for skills development. Groups allow social interactions, and can even cultivate friendships in a safe environment, free of judgement and criticism.
  • Camps-a summer day camp experience for children who are between 6 & 17 years old. This camp is designed for individuals who are able to participate with minimal support.
  • Residential Services-to access residential supports in Ontario, participants will need to qualify for and be registered through the Developmental Services of Ontario (DSO).
  • Coordinated Services Planning-is a community collaboration for planning and coordination services for families with children, youth and young people who have special needs.

Fees: None, only for camps
